NORTH HAVEN — You may have driven past it plenty of times on Washington Avenue: a burgundy oval sign reading “Crazy Toast House Restaurant” over a glass storefront in Washington Commons, with “Burgers, Hot Dogs, Soups, Salads, Wraps, Gyros, Hand Cut Fries, Ice Cream” lettered on the windows. Inside is one of the more ambitious breakfast menus in town, from pancakes stuffed like a quesadilla to French toast coated in Rice Krispies.

Crazy Toast House sits at 117 Washington Ave., Unit 5, and holds a 4.7-star average on Google. Here is who runs it, what is on the menu and what people who have eaten there say.

A North Haven breakfast spot since 2022
State business records list Crazy Toast House Restaurant LLC as an active company registered on Oct. 26, 2022, at 117 Washington Ave., Unit 5, and classified as a full-service restaurant. The filing lists one principal, Jose Beltran of North Haven, and identifies the business as minority-owned.
The restaurant pitches itself simply. “Feel the taste of breakfast + hot food,” its website says, promising “the real food experience” with scrambles, fresh omelettes, “egg world,” wraps, burritos and burgers. Read closely and you will spot two plates on the menu that carry personal names: the Jose Old Fashioned Corned Beef, with two eggs and homemade corned beef hash, and the J.B. NY Steak & Eggs.
The room is casual: wooden chairs, small tables, big front windows that let in a lot of light, and a coffee station by the counter. Google lists the place as LGBTQ+ friendly, and Washington Commons has a big parking lot right out front, which reviewers point out.
What locals say
The topics Google reviewers bring up most tell you what the kitchen is known for. French toast leads by a wide margin, mentioned in 50 reviews. The “cozy atmosphere” comes up in 23, home fries in 20, wraps in nine and the stuffed pancakes in eight. Corned beef hash, the cheesy biscuits and gravy, loaded home fries and chocolate chip pancakes all get repeat mentions too.
Shianne went for the first time and wrote, “Words cannot express how delicious our food was.” Her table was seated right away and found the staff “super friendly.” They ordered the Crazy Toast House Scramble, the Crazy Steak & Egg Quesadilla and the Stuffed Pancake Quesadilla. She had the pancakes herself: “They were so good and so filling. I ended up taking some home and having for lunch.”
K.P. called the menu full of “unique creations” and singled out the same dish: “I tried the pancake quesadillas (pancakes stuffed with cheese and eggs and bacon) and it was amazing.” The home fries, K.P. added, were “crispy and good seasoning,” and the coffee came in a big mug. Next on the list: “their French toast creations!”
Lorenzo came in for a late breakfast with his family and wrote that the staff was “courteous and patient” and the atmosphere “very inviting.” He was upfront about the bill: “The price was a little on the higher side but it’s worth it for the portion and quality.”
Price is the most common complaint. A couple of three-star reviewers felt the meal was pricey for what they got, and one described dry pancakes, bland home fries and slow service on her visit. Plenty of others came away happy, though, and one reviewer summed up the experience by saying the owner and the waiter were “2 of the nicest people I have ever met.”

What to order
Prices below come from the menu posted on the restaurant’s website. Omelettes come with buttered toast and home fries, and you can call ahead to confirm current prices.
Stuffed Pancake Quesadilla ($17.95). This is the dish reviewers keep naming. Pancakes are stuffed with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and cheddar, cut into wedges and served with maple syrup. Shianne says it is filling enough to take some home.

The French toast list ($15.95 each). With 50 reviews mentioning it, French toast is the house specialty. Choose from a Toasted Almond French toast with strawberry banana caramel sauce, a Rice Crispy French toast and a Nutella version, or build a Breakfast Combo ($16.95) with French toast and bacon, sausage or ham.

Eggs Benedict ($17.95). Poached eggs and hollandaise on an English muffin, with a pile of the home fries reviewers talk about. If you want to go bigger, the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict ($20.95) sets the poached egg on a lump crab cake and Canadian bacon under a Mornay cheese sauce.

Pancake-shell breakfast tacos. Another pancake creation, shared by a diner on Google: pancakes folded into taco shells and filled with eggs, black beans and shredded cheese, served with a hash brown on the side.

Crazy Toast House Scramble ($15.95). The namesake dish: scrambled eggs, black bean salsa, pepper jack, ham and avocado over cheesy biscuits. If biscuits are your thing, the Crazy Cheesy Biscuits ($16.95) and the cheesy biscuits and gravy get regular mentions in reviews.
Fully Loaded Homies ($10.95). Home fries topped with bacon, cheddar, scallions and sour cream. Add an egg any style for $2.25.
A wrap and hand-cut fries for lunch. Crazy Toast House isn’t only a breakfast place. The lunch side of the menu has wraps ($12.95), including buffalo chicken, turkey with sriracha mayo and a veggie wrap with hummus and feta, plus burritos, melts, the Crazy Cubana panini and a list of burgers ($14.95–$15.95). Wraps come up in nine reviews.

The North Haven dog ($9.95). The signature hot dog list has a dog named for the town, topped with chili, yellow mustard and onions. It sits alongside the Chicago, a Reuben Dog and the Notorious P.I.G., with pulled pork, bacon and coleslaw.
Good to know
Kids have their own menu, including French toast sticks ($7.95), a hot dog and fries, grilled cheese and chicken fingers. The menu also has organic oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, and omelettes you can switch to egg whites for $2.25.
The restaurant takes online orders for pickup and delivery through its Google listing, and its menu is posted on its website. It closes in the afternoon, so plan it for breakfast or lunch, not dinner.
